Are there any fellow Vz-58/Cz-858 owners out there?

How are you enjoying it? Any aftermarket parts that you would recommend?

I may get beaver barf furniture for it when I find it, but I can't seem to take off the butt stock. I have the sporter model like in the picture with the ATI butt stock.

I assume that you are a Canadian and ha e access to relatively cheap 58's. Especially with the pinned mag.

I have two Vz-2008's and favor them to my m70ab2 a d SAR-1. Hard to compare to SKS rifles other than cartridge. But, out of the SKS rifles that I have shot I would be happy to say it takes the good parts of that design and adds AK capacity, magazines, and more modern design elements.

Correct.

What I've heard people say is that it plummets the AK in a lot of ways. Sadly I can't own one up here, so I can't compare.

Have you taken off your butt stocks on them before? I might be just an idiot and missed something completely obvious.

Do you have money to blow? Buy a Valmet and trick it to look like a proper AK. It's expensive, but you can have that AK.

The reason I want wood furniture for the 58 is that I prefer the look and feel of wood over synthetic; but until I figure out how to take this damn butt stock off I'm hooped.

If you got a CSA VZ-58 you might be interested in a side mount since it's already drilled to accept one. I tried one out once but ended up selling it since it kind of took away from my favourite things about the gun (the toy like weight and the complete lack of bulk).

Love it. Easily my favorite 7.62x39 rifle (5.45 AKs still a best tho). My only complaint about mine is no threaded barrel and no bayonet lug, but I don't really care.

All I did is install a Bonesteel FCG and although it's slightly better it isn't much to write home about. I'm not sure how much they're going for now and I don't remember how much I paid for my FCG.

You could easily pick up some non-polymer furniture. Keep in mind the brown furniture, is also synthetic.

The gun is great! my first centerfire rifle was the SKS and this VZ 58 shits on it in every way, the only reason why I still own my SKS is to show people how bad it is compared to my newer and shinier gun!

Also, the BC Tactical handguard is pretty great.

It's pretty much the most useful gun I own. And the best vehicle gun I've got by a long shot, both because of size when I go to folder, and the soft upward ejection that won't chip a window.

Just get the original fixed buttstock for maximum comfort. I also prefer the 10rd mags which make an already light gun feel almost toy-ish. I scoped mine too, but I think it's pretty unnecessary and it was a lot of work to use a pso on it. I normally go scopeless anyway. There's other scope setups that would have been easier to do. Part of me is tempted to just remove the scope rail altogether.

Then never "made" them.
But be patient, they import them in batches every now and again. Sign up for their emails if you want to know right away before they inevitably sell out quickly, even at the wild prices.

vz.58 =/= vz.2008

One is either a 100% Czech made surplus parts gun minus the few US required parts if it's older or new manufactured Czech receiver and German barrel with surplus parts if it's newer, and the other is surplus Czech parts built on a US made receiver with a US made barrel.

One currently costs $1100 and the other $500.

CSA vz, although it does not have a bayonet lug, but it DOES have a thread tipped barrel. Can't wait to cuckstamp for a can.
