You know what's one thing that rustles my jimmies about weapon selection in the walking dead / any slow zombie apocalypse ? The lack of POLEARMS. Where are your spears ? Pikes ? Halberds ? Poleaxes ? I mean if you look at the history of pole weapons pretty much anything attached to the end of shaft works...

But no, oh zombie laying on the ground ? Let me crouch down next to it and stab it with a knife. Oh a zombie pushing down a chain link fence ? Let me get close enough to makeout with it and stab it with a 3 inch blade... Like normally you have to roll with modern times and leave old weapons in the past but a scenario like this screams out for polearms!
