once, in 1964 a
russian colonel working under the kruschev fired a tactical nuke, the Davey Crockett in your op, at a research facility in Rassvet. The colonels subordinate commander of a smaller unit tried to challenge the colonel and even forcibly tried to stop him but the colonel pushed him off and fired the rocket on russian soil, killing russian men who were working under the KGB.

OPs pic was a launcher that couldn't even fire the thing far enough away that the operator wasn't caught in the blast themselves. We've only used nukes twice, and it wasn't in combat.

If you're thinking of Japan, you'd be right on the money. Bombed two of their major cities back to the stoneage to show them how big of a fucking wasps nest they were pissing on.

If they had succeeded and deployed the weapon(s), it would have been the only time a tactical nuke would have been used outside of testing. Some people guess they might have been successful if they had not blown their load early with the nerve gas attacks. The Davey Crockett was stolen from the US by a defector. This defector was so valuable, that both the US and Khruschev wanted her dead. This one lone operator was dropped in from a fucking A-12, spent a few days in the jungle fighting a bunch of old soldiers from WWII who had been brought in to guard her, got his eye shot off, and managed to both kill her, and escape.

Here's a pic of the guy taken a few weeks before it happened.

You mean strategic. Aum bombs/gasses the society it is fighting, not the deployed armed forces thereof. Therefore any use of a nuclear weapon by them would be a strategic strike. Any weapon they could create would be used for strategic strike only, thus the weapon is not a tactical weapon.

Tactical? No, nuking Japan in 45 was clearly strategic bombing.

Closest US ever was to use one was during Vietnam War, when command was urging Kennedy to give them clearance to use tactical nukes should Khe Sanh fall.
Before they succeeded, Marines broke siege and relieved base, which was later abondoned, after evacuation of personel and equipment
