Here's my first year:
>Ruger 10/22 w/AR style stock
>4x BX-25 mags
>4x-9x scope
>Shoulder strap
>Browning Buckmark OR Ruger MK III
>3x new magazines (for 5 total mags)
>Basic holster
>2000 rds. of quality .22LR (CCI, etc)
>Chest rig
My rationale: If I had to choose one caliber and one caliber only, I'm choosing .22LR, period. It should be the foundation of any domestic arsenal if you want to cover all your bases of rifle caliber, pistol caliber, self-defense, SHTF/bug-out, overall cost, etc.
Second year:
>Affordable+quality AR-15 in 5.56
>3 mags
>300 rds
Third year:
>300BLK Barrel
>300BLK Supressor (can still suppress 5.56 and .22LR decently)
>500 rds 5.56
>500 rds 300BLK
Rationale for years 2 and 3 is getting setup with a competent assault rifle for hunting, CQB, medium range shooting, etc.
Years 4 and 5 would be focused on fleshing out my tactical gear, buying a 9mm pistol plus ammo, and then perfecting my AR setup with whatever surplus after that.

Purpose of this exercise is to get down to the essentials of what we NEED year to year, instead of just what we want. Almost EVERYONE can afford $1500/yr for arsenal/get prep.
