Does it require depressing the grip safety in order to rack the slide? The other XD guns do, and I'm not a fan of that. If you don't need to depress the grip safety to clear a malfunction, then I'd be more inclined to lean toward the XDs.

As one that carries the XDs, I can tell you it is much heavier than the Glock 43. The XDs weighs as much as a G26. The extra weight helps with recoil, but may be uncomfortable to carry for long periods compared to the 43. Also, you get better sights and an extra round in the XDs.

I really want to like the XDS. Springfield should have actually made a scaled-down pistol for the 9mm version instead of just dropping a really thick 9mm barrel in the .45 model. Unloaded, the 9mm XDS weighs the same amount as a Glock 19. There's a serious problem there.

XDs has been good to me but tonight while doing draw practice I had a single draw that didn't adequately depress the safety. It's given me a lot of troubling thoughts.

XDs owner here, and hey now. I totally understand the grip safety gripes. But the internals are very nicely made, ESPECIALLY when compared to /k/'s favorite single-stack 9mm, the S&W M&P Shield.

but i am also against all XD series of firearms, for the pruce range there are always at least 3 better contenders to choose from, the poorfags just choose to save $30 and go with the Croatian crap.

Both are excellent pistols OP, however the quality control on Springfield pistols is less than that of the G43. While the Glock 43 may have its flaws (such as low round count and a tiny grip), those things are fixable. The XD's multitude of safeties are nice, but arbitrary when in the hands of a responsible user.
