So i see so many thread about ww2 rifles but no one ever really mentions some enfields like the long branch (pic related)

Hell even the garand gets its fair share of fame.

Is there a reason for this? Unreliable?

Whats your take on them /k/?

People do, there's various Lee Enfield threads every now and again.

They're probably just not as common as ammo is more expensive than some others and the guns themselves aren't as common unless you're in a commonwealth country

I like how the enfield takes a backseat to other rifles atleast in popularity, its a neat rifle, popularity doesnt determine how good it is, look at the mosin, an illiterate conscripts rifle

Hm i must missed them.

So ehat about modern enfields? I know the sa80 sucked when it was introduced in 86 but apparently since H&K got involved it has taken leaps and bounds. I have even heard people say that they would choose the enfield over a m16a1!

Any truth to this?

I have a WW1 Australian Lee. It was my first surplus. I only ever shot it like 3 times and never could hit anything with it. The trigger is pretty tough to get used to and for some reason I was shooting like 2 foot low at 75 yards. Nice gun and very sturdy, I just never had luck with mine. And ammo is very expensive, so I can't really shoot it now.

Assume whatever you want, the ammo is more expensive than nuggetfood and a lot of Enfields in the US are sporterized, driving down their availability in their original configuration, which most of us probably prefer now.

Enfield as a company now? Uhh, well the L85 (original) blew ass and didn't work right at all, but the A1 revision works fine.

It's an excellent bolt action rifle, the trigger is decent, the No4Mk1/2 have excellent sights, they balance well and feel lighter then they are, and they are utterly sturdy .303 isn't terribly outclassed by it's contemporaries, and the action is fast, though not the strongest.

Alot of enfields in the US are sporterized, and cheap Enfields in original issue condition are usually found in the areas surrounding Canada such as the North East, so they'll fetch a higher price at stores not in those areas.

All this said it's probably the most effective bolt action service rifle ever issued

I have got to stop buying cheap guns thinking they are a deal. The only cheap gun that is a deal is the SKS.
