I've seen some fags post about selling their old PTRs to buy the new paddle-equipped ones. Seems like for the loss you'd take on flipping a used rifle for a new one you could just pay Bill Springfield or Jeff Walters to install one. What say you, fellow PTR owners?

In the mean time, post your real fuckin' NATO raifus; FALS, G3s, M14s, etc. and clones.

I want to get my first PTR but I'm torn between 16" and 18".

Seeing as it's not really a precision rifle, is the 2" difference in barrel length all that important outside of maneuverability with the rifle in hand?

No. I fired 5 individual rounds, cleaning between each, then 5 rounds in succession then cleaned, then ten rounds and cleaned and called it good.

if I did it again I'd go with 18". I e-mailed the company and they said that you can't mount a bayonet on the 16". It's not a huge deal, but I'd like to be able to. That being said, I love my PTR and just owning it makes me pray for the happening.

I'm so torn. I planed on getting a battle rifle when tax time comes around, and had decided on a PTR cause they're sexy an dat HK slap, also DSA's are expensive yo. But then I heard about DSA Voyager line and they seem solid and are the same price basically as a PTR. Plus Atlantic has one with a 16" barrel. (I don't really want a retardedly long rifle)

I kept reading nothing but positive reviews about it and that Century finally decided to get their shit together after their first CETME fails. And for $600, I couldn't resist.

Even when the AWB was in effect it didn't ban detachable mags, and HK omitted the paddle releases in 1974.

Eventually I'm going to slap some wood on my raifu, and have a gunsmith refinish the bbl and receiver. In the meantime, I've been considering ways to make the shit paint job seem less shit. I'm pretty close to painting the stock and hand guard solid white, and seeing how that turns out.

What does /brg/ think?

G3 has always had a paddle release, but HK dropped it from the civilian model HK41/91 in 1974 to make manufacturing easier, and everyone else making semi clones basically copied them. I'm not sure when the ATF-approved paddle install came about.

Sent it back, they said the mag catch was out of spec, that and they replaced the bolt also. The barrel came full of rust initially too. After it was fixed I dumped it for $700. The rifle was cool as fuck, I loved the way it felt in my hands. I'm just leary as hell of them and will probably settle on an AR-10 as my next battle rifle.
