Alright /k/omrades. As far as I know the Mosin Nagant holds the record. 120+ years and still going. But who are the runner-ups?

Brown Bess easily. Anyway, had the nugget actually been a service rifle/deployed weapon for that long? I'm unsure about that considering it was 1890s-1940s for Russia.

Interesting though.

Definitely the Brown Bess, m2, vickers Gun was in from ww1 til relatively recently. Along with the smle

The M3A1 submachine gun served in the U.S. from 1942 all the way until 1992 when it was replaced by the MP5.

Abrams crews were still issued them until the 1st Gulf War.

7.62x54r probably has the longest service life of any cartridge though.

Which country still has the nugget as an issued weapon? I'm not doubting that the Mosin Nagant is still being used in conflicts around the world, but I consider "longest serving" to be applied to issued weapons of a real military, not rebels in a conflict who managed to buy one in the middle of a war zone.

Also, just to be clear, I'm not saying that some countries don't issue nuggets. If a modern country does issue them, I'm curious which ones they are.

The Lee-Enfield was introduced in 1885 as the Lee-Metford and has served since then.
Canadian Rangers are still issued a No4 rifle and their yearly ration of 200 rounds of .303.

nope. The longest serving weapon is the pointy stick, or spear if you want to get fancy. It's been used for thousands of years, and still has situational utility in modern times (shoota runs outta dakka u haz sharp-ting).

Yeah, Enfields and Brown Besses are still made and used by militias in parts of africa and central asia.

Though those fuckers on sentinel island still use Flatbows and javelins so...

Think about that. This is not a gun used for ceremonies, for some obscure ass patrols, nor is it a single piece of the original weapon still in use while the rest was discarded (Finnish Mosin Sniperfags).

Ma Deuce, front and center, in every major U.S. conflict from 1924 to now, in its original configuration.

Not quiet. Latest iteration I know of is when they made the clicky barrel so you didn't have to carry around a feeler gauge to set the barrel.

That said, the design is still like 98% the same though...

You still need to, or should headspace and time the gun. However if you take it out like 3 clicks most guns should work.
