I want to insure my understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of each are correct.
Isocolese
>More stable
>Better absorption of recoil
>Factually better at shooting from stand still
Weaver
>More mobile
>Presents narrower target to enemy
>Allows pulling back shooting hand for better weapon retention
>Akin to unarmed martial arts stance, thus better at defending/delivering unarmed attacks
So basically, according to my understanding, Isosceles is the target shooter stance and Weaver is the "gunfighter" stance. I know the most important part is what works best for the individual, but I'm trying to get an idea of the empirical advantages.
As for standard Isosceles/Weaver vs modified, my understanding of the difference is modified has the shooting arm elbow locked out, and standard has the arm extended JUST before the point of locking out. I read in another thread that modified is better for semi-auto pistols because it helps prevent limp wristing, and regular is better for revolver (although I don't remember the reasoning for this.) Is this true?
