>>5117857The Arabic golden age wasn't a result of Islam. Islam did not catapult Muslim society forward; Europe was just set back when it lost the knowledge of the ancients through the fall of Rome and the burning of Alexandria's library.
The Arab world was not affected as such.
As for America's influence on the Middle East, our escapades have destabilized some parts of the Middle East, but it was their own kooky Islamic fundamentalists who fucked the region up.
To think, the Middle East was more culturally advanced during the Islamic Golden Age than it is today.
Moreover, the reason Europe eventually overtook the Middle East was due to Europe advancing in leaps and bounds from the renaissance to the industrial revolution, while the Arab world stagnated.
You can't blame the Arab world's problems solely on external influences. Shit, the only reason much of the Muslim world is relevant today can be chalked up to oil.
As for what I think of Islam: I regard the religion itself in the same way I regard Judaism and Christianity; the only real difference being that Christian and Jewish societies today have learned to ignore most of their respective holy books due to cultural advancements.
The Muslim world is still working on that.
