If there was an afterlife... I recon you think you have a soul.
Physically I can poke your brain and damage your personality bit by bit, your IQ will drop, your memory will suffer, everything until you're braindead. And then your ascending soul patches it all back together? To what state? The you you have been at birth? At your youth? When you die? When you die your brain suffers injuries before you're really dead, so you'd be a zombie in the afterlife, at best. You'll have an afterlife as far as the particles, atoms, whatsoever that made up your personality spread out into the universe, but even if this was on some quantum level or something, your conscience is gone. It'd be a dreamless sleep. Perhaps you're there, but you don't know it.
