But I seriously doubt that most trans women can't pass when they have access to the medical care they need, take care of themselves, and present themselves using even basic feminine aesthetic techniques (dressing for your body, skin/hair care, makeup, etc.).
The reason many trans women don't pass is because they don't have a sense of fashion/makeup that meshes with their body type, facial structure and/or skin tone.
If you don't want to look like shit, don't wear clothing that looks like shit on you and emphasizes masculine areas, don't get a hairstyle that doesn't work well with your face and don't wear makeup that looks like shit on your skin tone (or in general, pic related a cis woman with shitty makeup).
Keep in mind that passing isn't being pretty, it's passing as a cis woman. Many cis women are not attractive, or at least not attractive in the traditional sense. That's life.
