That's an issue to solve with your ONE particular partner, not a group of like-minded people. Everyone reacts differently and no community ever will be able to tell you how to deal with your one specific friend.
You're asexual, it's not an issue with the people you bump into on a daily base, it's your decision how you deal with it, if you're okay with a compromise for the sake of your partner.
I never read the acegen in all fariness, but I don't know why it'd be anything but a hugbox.
