I'd like to preface this with the fact that I'm not gay, so I might be missing something entirely.

Why do we say Homophobia?
A phobia is something that someone is afraid of.
Bigotry against a certain group of people is an "ism" usually.

I'm just curious as to why you think we use homophobia as the go-to word for anti-gay?
