Need help.

I've been out of education for a while so I'm having some difficulty organising an essay. Is it acceptable to present my writing like pic related?

I had always done it this way throughout highschool and never had a teacher point it out as a problem. My justification for it was that certain seperate paragraphs (as signified by indentation) had to be kept next to each other for continuitiy. Meanwhile if I'm starting a relatively new/different line of thought a space must exist between paragraphs.

I would appreciate thoughts on this.

Short story idea

16 year old pop sensation Sasha takes the world by storm and everyone copies her trademark blue hair with blue stars around her eyes. She then gets in a car accident and is horribly disfigured. She worries this will ruin her career. To her manager's relief millions of kids begin imitating her wounds by mutilating themselves. Her manager encourages her to mutilate herself more and pretty soon it becomes the biggest youth craze the world has ever seen. They make millions of DIY self-mutilation kits. Then all of a sudden she falls out of favour due to a lip syncing incident at a concert and no one likes her anymore but a whole generation is left disfigured. It ends with a young boy en route to see the next big thing in concert, writing "she was never any good anyway" to his friend on a napkin because he cut his own tongue off to imitate Sasha and can't talk anymore.

Any opinions on "To the Lighthouse"? I finished it yesterday, and felt the book was well put together, and conveyed a lot of important messages about time, family relationships, and the meaning of life.
