I want your opinions /lit/. I am a monoglot with no education in Latin or Romance languages, but I'm also pretty enthusiastic about amateur classics and want to learn Latin to keep up with my wonderful hobby.
However from a practical point of view would it be smarter to start with a modern language to "warm up" and get some basic linguistic skills and then think about getting into Latin? The alternative would be Italian, but I might consider French. That would obviously mean getting conversational experience I wouldn't get from Latin, I wouldn't have to explain to everyone why I'm learning a "dead" or "boring" or """useless""" language.
Hello, I have been watching movies about older men and younger girls/women relationships/friendships and wondering if there were any books on the topic.
Hello, I have been watching movies about older men and younger girls/women relationships/friendships and wondering if there were any books on the topic.
I've watched leon the professional and detachment and got depressed. Books last longer than movies so that's why I'm looking for books instead of movies. I've looked up for some but they are all for women( females perspective, boo hoo evil married bdsm man etc). Granted I was looking on goodreads.
Things I'm looking for: boy/man is depressed/suicidal meets girl, girl changes him. Doesn't have to be action. Prefer coming of age like Perks of being a Wallflower, its kind of a funny story etc.
maybe something like Detachment or Leon where depressed guy meets fucked up girl.
Warning: not looking for a playboy chad kind of guy please. Sounds like im looking for erotica but im not just wish i had a little sister or a little girl to take of me and I her. Movies give me 2 hours of escape. I want to escape for days (takes me ages to read through a book)
Recap: Love, relationship, coming of age , depression, mental illness, young girl
Also sorry for being retarded I get that a lot and thanks if you made it all the way through my spaziness. Also I may be autistic i score high on the tests no need to point it out. I assure you I'm not this retarded in real life I just type like this because I have no idea how to otherwise.
Do you guys have an alternative to the Bible? I mean to say in the way that christfags look for guidance/spiritual comfort/whatever in the bible do you have another book or books that you like to go to for the same sort of thing? often when I'm down I'll read one of pic related, not that I subscribe to either of them wholly, but just to inject some sense of that quasi-spiritual being-on-the-path-to-happiness feeling that I need to get motivated to do stuff. How bout you guys?
Does anyone have a digital copy of Joyce's "Ulysse" in French? Can't find one anywhere. Would like to read parts of the translation to see if it's any good before purchasing.
I've been out of education for a while so I'm having some difficulty organising an essay. Is it acceptable to present my writing like pic related?
I had always done it this way throughout highschool and never had a teacher point it out as a problem. My justification for it was that certain seperate paragraphs (as signified by indentation) had to be kept next to each other for continuitiy. Meanwhile if I'm starting a relatively new/different line of thought a space must exist between paragraphs.
