Want to read Iluminatus Trilogy but just coming off a long excursion in literary fiction I'm a little worried it might be too tasking. I'm looking for something light, is this a bad idea? Is it something to be read slowly and analyzed or is it something I can just ride out and take for the conspiratorial laffs.

tldr; how tuff is this book?

It's pretty tough but more than anything I found it annoying. It's as if Philip K Dick decided that he was going to use the cut-up technique.

Hmm... that sounds pretty unpleasant to be honest. Is the prose all cut up or do you jsut mean the plot is jumbled? Is it maybe the point to be disorienting and just read for that effect or is the expectation that you'll put the pieces together?

There's a lot to it, but you can easily just skim across the surface.

If you treat it as if it's light reading, it will be light reading. And if you treat it as if it's heavy reading, it will be heavy reading.

The Shit is like a bazillion pages of jumbled plot and not a particularly interesting one at that. Just read every 50th page and call it a day.

LOVED the book. It definitely is not a light read. Many character, many plots, plot twists, blah blah blah. It makes you question a lot of things, therefore you probably will go back to read random passages. If you can get through the first 100 pages than you pretty much set.
