What a poor generalisation based on arbitrary factors. I never understood the argument of non-fiction being for smarter people... it almost always comes across as posturing as if this person's conception of an 'intelligent' person is one who voraciously consumes information. But since they are too busy trying to boost their ego by trying to convince themselves that they are smarter than they are they cannot appreciate the fact that a high intellect enjoys recreation and leisure just as much as anybody else, only that they enjoy it with a truer sense of depth and greater awareness. If you lack the humanity to appreciate the humanities then you aren't as smart as you think you are. At least not in the type of intelligence that can appreciate art and aesthetics. Why do people always forget that there are multiple intelligences anyway?
