Both are good. BM is much better, but harder. It's one of those you might need to work through, but it's worth it. The Road is easy and quick but it's also fantastic.

Personally The Road was what got me into McCarthy.

The film is extremely similar to the book, save for some situations they cut (probably because of time constraints). And, it being a book, it lets you experience what the father thinks.
Yes, it's pretty depressing.

There is a Yale college on BM on youtube where they explain some stuff, make connections to Moby Dick, The Bible (if i remember correctly), Wordsworth and compare Judge Holden to Lucifer as presented in Paradise Lost.

I've read three of his books (The Road, Blood Meridian, and The Crossing) and I found all of them to be affected, dull and shallow.
