Are there any traditional hero stories (Gilgamesh, Harry Potter, Star Wars etc) where the main character is a woman, not oversexualized and not focused on romance?

Ideally, the heroine is not butch either.

I have been trying to find one to no avail, please help /lit/.

You're going to find sexism every-fucking-where. If the character in the myth/legend isn't in it for romance they are not feminine enough for the story. Women are props for the males. The ONLY way they avoid it is by being a "butch", and considered deviant by males. You can only find this in modern tales.

No. Heroes/knights/warriors are men because we have the bodies and minds for it.

Women don't even want these characters, anyway. When they find their way under female authorship, they turn them into some fuzzy faggy family hug drama thing like Brave.

Female "heroes" are just men with tits imagined and written by males.

Mulan, Jeanne D'Arc, and Boudica are obvious. There are also plenty of queens (Elizabeth, Margrethe), and strong women in traditional roles in Greek myths, Norse sagas, etc., but of course these don't fit the quest hero stereotype.

After reading through these responses, I feel like there are little to no examples of hero stories with:

>not oversexualized
>not focused on romance
>not butch

due to some poster implying that readers, especially women, would not enjoy reading about a character in this context.

Is this a fair assumption to make, and if so, why do you guys think this is true?

girls are so insecure about their appearance and stuff that they don't relate to overly sexualized, confident, strong characters. To them "girlpower" is less about doing backflips off exploding trains, and more about having lots of friends, shaming boys who don't treat them like princesses, climbing the social ladder, and getting Chad as a boyfriend.
