However the novel isn't really about alternate history (Fatherland is a much more realistic book) but about the authors' belief in other worlds.
Considering how much of the book is just antiques roadshow a real adaptation would mostly consist of lots of characters doing sales pitches of their memorabilia, comparing artifacts from Japanese and American culture etc.
A faithful adaptation would end up more like an ASMR video than an action movie.
