16. It's not many but I'm juggling my reading with my studies and work placements too.

Yes, at least 20 books. If I surpass that, I'll be happy. I've tried keeping it exclusively to classics.

Either Notes From Underground or Dubliners.

I think it's been enjoyable overall. I struggled with Gravity's Rainbow over the Summer and I read Animal Farm which, although enjoyable, is really on-the-nose with its political allegory, but overall I've enjoyed what I've read this year so far. I think I'm going to either read Arthur Machen's The White People or Hubert Selby Jr's The Demon next.

My number is higher because I read a lot of shorter novellas and stuff, things like Flowers for algernon and the screw tape letters. The summer was good for reading, I'm lagging a bit now. This was my first year with a goal, I set it high but not astronomically so, in order to judge where I'm at. All in all a good year in literature so far.

impossible to say, mason & dixon, ulysses, ficciones (by borges), book of disquiet, most of shakespeare dramas, I actually discovered and enjoyed so many amazing books, picking 5, let alone 1, would be wrong

amazing streak I got to say, I actually can't remember a book I've hated, some were pretty bland (hemingway's snows of kilimanjaro and fahrenheit 451 comes to mind)

I didn't count but I was working on my thesis so I had to read many books. I'd say around 20 of them.
"Unfortunately", I've almost exclusively read non-fiction this year. As for fiction, I've only read around 6 or 7.

My favorite fiction this year is Vesaas' "The Birds".

On my 40th. Since I started keeping count I've always passed the 52 mark, which I'd ideally like to continue. I think of all the books I've read this year, the Zhuangzi is the one that will stay with me the most. I've had pretty bad luck with new authors this year; the novels I most enjoyed were ones from authors whom I already counted among my favourites, like Woolf and Dostoevsky.

Hm well goodreads says 87 but that includes all of shakespeare's plays so 49? I made a list of books I wanted to read, the amount didn't matter. Favorite is Ferdydurke hands down. Least favorite were the Satyricon (too fragmented to be enjoyable) and The Mad And The Bad (generic pulp I took from the library because it's nyrb and I was fooled by all the nyrb wanking on this board). I've read good things and I've read disappointments. However I tried to pick up Tristram Shandy last week and that's the only book to genuinely trip me up.

No.

Can't name a single favourite. Dead Souls, Don Quixote, Moby Dick, Hells Angels, Catch-22, pretty much every short story by Nikolai Gogol, they all deserve honourable mention.

Book of Disquiet takes the prize for most unsettling piece of literature I've ever read. Immensely beautiful, very thoughtful, disturbingly familiar.

Also, Travels with Charley is perhaps the most comfy read I've ever had.

I choose what I read. By far, the majority has been excellent. Notable exceptions were The Sun Also Rises, Status by Erlend Loe, and Things Fall Apart.

I don't know, the nicest surprise was Intellectuals and the Masses by John Carey or Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman.

Mixture of both, mostly good stuff because I don't really like to read too many bad books.

Yeah, I haven't marked plays on Goodreads (maybe eventually I will) but I've got a handful of novellas (Seize the Day, The Trial, some genre fic) that I'll take home and breeze through come Christmastime
