Questions that dont deserve their own thread

Ive got around 7 hours of travelling to do in the next 3 days. Im just finishing The Republic by Plato. Deciding on an audio book for the journey. My current options are Meditations - Marcus Aurelius, The Prince - Machiavelli or An Enquiry Concerning the Principles of Morals - Hume. Which one? Or download something else because they are all shit?

Yet on the flip, the commie threads stay up. Even then those threads that are critical of the reds due suggest books, hell they are pretty /lit/. But no, looks like the mods have a bitch fit if anything goes against such an ideal, and decide to delete it.

Why not as audio books? The Republic was really good as an audio book for the most part, although there were a few shitty readers. My daily commute is around 45 minutes each way on a packed train, so audio books are really good for that. This will be around 3.5 hour coach journey, and I feel sick if I read whilst in a car or coach.

Which one would you suggest to listen to?

I would recommend The Prince, but not as an audiobook, it really requires you to read some parts twice and I don't think I would've fully understood it if I had merely heard the words.

lol nope. Having seen both sides deleted, normally it coincides with someone losing an argument by anon pointing to the text, or because the thread blatantly isn't about books.

What you're seeing is greater butthurt and reporting than usual from people who were already trolled by the thought of someone reading a book about anything they pretend to like.

Threads which are about books get deleted when it's a topic someone not used to 4chan/lit thinks is a morals issue and therefore reports it (Lolita threads) rather than when someone used to reading and /lit/ sees the same thing because they know it's an issue of what the book says.

Most of the readers on the board can keep their politics separate and recommend titles for various political affiliations, left or right. They're not the majority of >>>/pol/ threads though, left or right.

>tl;dr- people who report threads tend to be the worst at reading the rules or books

Firstly, it was my first time into philosophy or audio books, and I'd never encountered that writing style before, so some of it was a little hard to follow.

The beginning of the book I could deal with quite well, and I think I followed it. I thought the ideas in the later part were a little more unusual so harder to follow.

Im not very /lit/. Most of my reading over the last 4 years has been for my degree. I would probably take in more of the book if I was reading it rather than listening. I do make a point to actually concentrate on the book rather than just having it on in my headphones though. However I'd be much less likely to read a whole book, and it would take me a lot longer than audio books since I couldnt read on my commute.

Its a trade off between how much information I retain and how likely I am to actually cover a lot of the content. Since its just for pleasure, I prefer audio books as I find it easier, I can get through more, and it fills my commute.
