The novel seems to be on a decline to some people, and I agree, but only from a certain point of view. It's quantity over quality dismays even me. It's all just a reflection of the times we live in and the domination of liberal capitalism.
I saw a thread some time ago asking if there were any taboos left to break. I think most of the posts claimed there was nothing left. Well there are, but they're not censored so much as shunned, scorned. And I'm not even talking about sexual deviances. The taboo is to question and to offer alternatives to this dominance.
How will the novel grow? (a better question) Only with a change.
