>>7286874I was sort of dancing around the real issue but if you want me to put it to a point its that autistic people who have diffculty conceiving of or imagining a value (since values are implicit teleologies), try to 'make up' for it by adherence to a system or ruleset to naively 'calculate' action. even if they don't really 'get' it, they have little means of direction otherwise (such is the chief function, and sometimes benefit, of ideology).
A dearth of this capacity for world formation is conditional solipsism. A conditional solipsist can hardly imagine fellow feeling with another being, he can hardly conceive of them to begin with. Hence, he concocts some universal and unitemporal rule where he has to be succorous to all things in all contexts and at all hazards, such is his infermity.
And what a mistake such a conception is. like most categorical imperatives, but ones like that especially, are wont to leap the envelope of adaptive applications, and serve as convenient justification for the most graveous and injurious afflictions of civilization.
Far more enamored is he, of far flung barbarians, which are distant, and therefore abstract, than his own neighbors. To him *systems*, which he can grasp easily and operate deterministically, are more real in his mind than greater reality, which appears to him inpenetrable and incomprehensible, a black box into which insight is impossible.
And there lies the irony of the whole business; those most desirous of a system, are oft those also least fit to construct them. The whole character of philosophical endeavor throughout history, recent history especially, takes on a more chilling character in such light. People philosophize about that which concerns them. On the face of it, a truism. But when you consider, people are most concerned about that which causes them difficulty. How can you trust such a man to think about something that involves thinking to begin with, the game is rigged.
So often the result is simply an disingenuous use of general principles to incidentally justify things in particular; usually, the manner in which he had been conducting himself previously (often with the correlary that he therefore deserves more goodies or validation). For him, bootstrapping is a wash, *without outside help*
And so in conclusion, the dissolution of capital T Tradition in western society has been a complete catastrophe for its existential felicity. In the meantime, you can always get a hobby (I really like combat sports myself, grappling arts especially recommend themselves to a thinking man).
