I'm pretty sure /lit/ has plenty of good thinkers so here it goes:
I'm writing a little funny play (no more than 10 minutes) where my main character is a guy who can only communicate with other by emojis in cardboards for some reason that I couldn't figure out yet.
So, what could be that funny and kind of absurd reason?

You can write about any one of the 7-8 billion people on the planet, you have your entire imagination to draw from. There would be little scenography and no more than 5-6 actors. So, no great and complex stories not beacuse of lack of imagination or willingness, but it is just a little play, little resources.

I just simply liked that character. Even I have some jokes within the script but no central argument yet.

If I can't get this idea anywhere, and get no help either, I will just let it go.

He's from a dystopian future where people forgoed the written and spoken word in favour of cell phone emojis. Everyone in that future underwent a mass dumbing down due to cell phone culture. They can't read, they can't talk; just communicate with cell phone emojis.

Fuck it, just call the play Back to 2084.

Of course, but I think I'm leaving it. Didn't consider the fact that the visibility of these cardboards will be a problem although it is not a big place (but big enough to think of it as a problem) or something like that.
