eh, the bible is written over the course of about 1,000 years by a bunch of jews, hellenized jews and full on greeks.
the different languages, writers, themes and theological ideas are so wide that biblical experts typically focus on specific chunks of the bible.
so you'll want a companion text that corresponds to the unit you're working in (more or less, you have Torah/Books of Moses, Nevaiim/Prophets, Writings/Wisdom Literature/Khetuvim and New Testament)
Basically it makes no sense at all, from an academic standpoint, to approach the bible as a single coherent work that needs to be read cover to cover.
