Just picked up an ancient copy of Rudolf Steiner's "Reincarnation and Karma: How Karma Works" from a used bookstore today. I'm a Christfag who has been researching somewhat into the various belief systems of Buddhism as of late (I'm a few chapters into the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying by Sogyal Rinpoche, and I've watched a few concise YouTube videos on the subject and also have skimmed various Wikipedia pages).

What should I expect?

I'd research him more so you can approach him more effectively within in his own context.

IIRC there's a guy with a website called Waldorf Watch that takes a huge shit on everything he wrote.
But his dictionary of Rudolf Steiner's stuff is solid, I'd suggest you read it for directions in case you ever get stuff (it's also absent of any criticism towards him, he reserves it for the articles reserved for it).

I too, was once a Christian. When I read Richard Gombrich's "What The Buddha Thought" and then the Pali Nikayas I was astonished, because I realized the picture in my head of the Buddha as an obscure mystagogue, a false prophet spewing Hallmark card platitudes, was totally wrong. The Buddha in the Nikayas speaks limpidly, modestly, and appeals to reason. His system of thought is consistent, and on mature reflection, is exceptionally compelling. On his deathbed the Buddha tells Ananda he has taught with an open fist, holding nothing back that might aid living beings in reaching an end to dukkha.

I found to my dismay that the Gospels compared unfavorably to the Buddha's sermons. As far as living your life as a good person, I no longer think the Gospels have even a tenth of the Nikayas' power and coherency of moral instruction.

althought the topic is really VERY complex. Karma/reincarnation in Buddhism is still hotly debated. Most center on the question "if there is no soul, what gets reincarnated?"

the book "Exploring Karma and Rebirth" by Nagapriya is a great exploration of the topic as pertains to Buddhism. It's also very short and a nice introduction to some Buddhist ideas.
