Patricia Highsmith's Ripley novels? It's never outright stated he's gay because he himself is either in deep denial or simply not aware of it, but there's lots of little hints he likes Dick, as in, his friend Richard.
Also watch the movie adaption Plein Soleil, Alain Delon is a unbelievably hot.
