I asked at a specialty bookshop the other day that gets in a lot of SF&F, guy said yeah nah it hasn't come in before I'd even finished asking and without even checking anything on the computer

He works in a specialty bookshop and is probably into SF himself. He's probably aware of what's coming in and whether it has, mostly because he would be putting it out as soon as possible because it's a new book by a popular author.
