Why don't they call it philosophy? Is it because philosophy is a dirty word for liberals?
Even Freud and Lacan should just be called philosophers already

Literary theory is the discourse which governs the processes of textual interpretation. Philosophy is the discourse concerning the nature of being. While there are complex overlaps, that isn't to say we should encase everything within the same field of study. If philosophy is the silent presuppositions in all fields, why shouldn't one refer back to them in any intellectual pursuit?

All other fields of study are just derivatives of philosophy. I'm not kidding. Psychology started with Freud who was influenced by Nietzsche. All the hard sciences were once part of philosophy. You can also trace the liberal art's lineage to philosophy.

How come? I mean, I guess you can argue that Parmenides wrote his Perì Phuseis as poetry and all that, but what's the rest of the lineage? Plato was somewhat against art and mythology, most of the other gave no real fuck... Aristotle is who you're getting at?

Literally all of european academia dating back to the fall of the roman empire was based on greek philosophy and the bible.

All academic disciplines stem from a philosophical thought.

Modern science require Baconian objectivism and Cartesian reason, both philosophical principles.
Thus all science is merely a branch of philosophy.

You can do this with all subjects.
Even math is based on the philosophical principle of logic.

Anon, let me be clear: I've been talking about art for the last two posts, in case the name of the essay I suggested didn't give you enough of a hint. That was the point I wanted to make, that liberal arts don't exactly stem from greek philosophy.
