Who do you write for, /lit/? Why?

Many great writers wrote for their wives, for their exes, for their friends or family. Rarely, they even wrote for themselves.

Writing for others who have similar interests is satisfying even if I don't know them personally. In fact it can be more satisfying if you don't know them since you feel less reluctant about opening up. I don't have a wife or gf to write to and wouldn't want one tbh. The few friends I have are indifferent to literature & art in general. When I write for myself it can often come off as pretentious. And the only reason I ever write is to communicate to others anyways.
