Starship Troopers deals heavily with the psychology of a soldier mostly throughout his training and handling the losses of those around him. It's very much not the movie at all. Hardly describes the combat, actually.

The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress is about a penal colony on the moon revolting against the governments of earth. Point of interest here is the way the lunar culture handles its female population, its most valuable necessity. Mostly with polyandrous relationships which on the surface would seem like the ultimate cuckdom, but digging deeper is simply part of the extreme protectiveness required of the males. Overall, it's a tale of a whole lot of people stiffening their lips and doing what needs to be done, but in as boring a way as say Grapes of Wrath.
