What if a car swerved out of control directly in front of you while on the motorway, travelling at 70-80mph? It would have to swerve, but if that meant hitting another load of cars it's still an unavoidable situation.

I'd rather have a societal model where we don't own stuff like cars and fridges, but instead lease them. It could open up a whole market for repairing stuff instead of just throwing it away, or you could get upgrades from the manufacturer.
