The biggest irony is that her selfish philosophy led her to a point of complete isolation from everyone in her life and she couldn't deal with it. She witnessed and experienced the dark side of her philosophy and she cracked. She was a fool and a hypocrite.
I'm not a selfist because I recognise that without my family and friends and the people I love I am nothing. Human connection and love is what makes my life worth living. I know people who have tried to be 'selfists' and quite frankly they were arseholes. They inevitably become completely detached from reality, the world and often end up having a mental crisis. And no one cares enough about them to help them out, people just watch their demise from afar and pity them.
