What's a good book on the Romans? Looking for something that goes from prehistory to Augustus that I can read free online/download onto my android. I need this because I want to start reading an hour of nonfiction every day.

From the Gracchi to Nero by H.H Scullard is quite good, also Rome: From Village to Empire by Boatwright is good although covers a longer period than you asked for.
