Hi /lit/
tl;dr.: books for becoming a grown up, on philosophy and politics
First let me apologise for this thread as I always follow the lurk moar rule, but I can't with this issue, I don't know if this causes any bother here as I am new here.
/lit/ with the recent succes of events arround the world and me becoming more mature I started to get interested in actual matters of the life such as politics and social matters, me, being here for 5 years 4chan has become the resource on some of my interest, so I started to visit /pol/ a few months back.
/pol/, being as /pol/ as they are can properly provide with reasonable arguments ans knowledge in most scenarios, I can filter their satire tho but /pol/ is not the issue here.
That recent interest leaded me into questioning things and thinking on the modern so called society and the way it Works, but happens that I realised that I have not a clue about anything, as I being the "I don't give a fuck bout anything I just wanna have fun lol" I was on HS didn't really listened to my teachers, and even thus I passed the exams I can't remember shit.
Now someone speaks about capitalism, socialism, republic, and other socio-economic terms and I have just basic if none idea of the concept and the way it Works.
So yeah that's the problem, basically i´m an ignorant and I want to have knowledge of the world I live in and the way it Works.
So /lit/ I don't think Im stupid as I am very insightful (people tell me how brilliant I am all the time but thoose are just sensationalist tennagers) I just was lazy back in my day.
So I thougt that rather than listening to them and their visions of the worls it would be a better Idea to listen/read the visións of the people whose ideas that they follow originally came from.
So what Im asking here is books for comprehending the core of everything and books that are also aplicable in the modern world (for example is plato´s republic model aplicable today in modern republic states?), i don't now where to start, there is such an incredible amount of books, I don't ask you for list me everything that I have to do, just a base, the basics.
I don't care the amount of books that i have to read or how much will it take me, I really want to learn, I also don't know if its a good idea to subsitute my school education with that kind of book.
Please help me /lit/wan kenobi, you are my only hope
