>>7296889I spent a decade looking for motivation in books, in people, in role models, even in art.
Turns out it comes from
withinIf you're motivated to find motivation, you already motivation. The secret is to simply refocus it into what you were looking for motivation for.
Want to be a carpenter? Instead of reading a book about getting off your ass, read a book about basic structural engineering. Or better yet, get a dozen 10 ft 2x4s, buy some cheap tools, and experiment.
Want to make money? Read a book about economics. Read a book about business, read a book about stocks, about history of money, read biographies about people who have made money. OR go out and make contact with leaders of business in your area until one agrees to mentor you.
Want to help people? Read about theology, read about the history of religions, read about MLK and ghandi and JFK. Research great heros of the soul. OR find a damn charity.
Whatever you do, DON'T look for motivation. If you can look into WHY you should do something, you already know why you should do it. If you care enough to look into HOW to be motivated, you already know how to care about something.
Apply yourself, get out and experience life. Human biology rewards action with desire. The same chemicals that make you addicted to nicotine or caffeine or attention, or w/e, is the SAME chemicals that make you addicted to success. It's just habit, and habits start with a single action.
Just do it man.
