Because any chance they have at discovering an authentic self, one that is informed by their being women instead of having to work around the fact that they're women, is preempted by how easy it is instead to cash in on the Doing Literally Anything As A Woman attention scholarship fund, which is set up by men to give them attention for doing literally anything to a middling level of competence while also being a woman. It also encourages them to emphasise the inauthentic aspects of their femininity, which are inauthentic by necessity because they are the parts men pay attention to or promote.
A woman trying to be an actually good writer is basically faced with a sheer wall, plastered with signs that tell her this route is closed, and to follow the arrows to one of the other routes: #1) getting by on sex appeal, or #2) getting by on playing up how worthless and vulnerable and agenciless and in need of saving women are.
Mira Gonzalez is a good example of route #1. She's completely mediocre but she's cute so she gets attention from any group that needs a mandatory Young Female Poet to patronise. Same with Laurie Penny. Laurie Penny is a heifer but she's passably attractive in the face, so when people (read: men) want a sassy feminist pundit lady to patronise they instinctively tend toward her, which compounds on itself until she's the only one known. And they respond in turn by dressing nicely, dressing fashionably, Instagramming, being attention whores, etc. 13% of what Mira does is actually write, 0% of what she does is try to improve, and the rest is cultivating a trendy persona and counting her Twitter followers. This behaviour is capable of existing because men are horny and can't help giving clicks and attention to girls with pretty faces.
The rest of the feminists, the ugly ones, are good examples of route #2. Whine whine whine bitch bitch moan for eternity, everything is just a guilt trip. Don't go climb any mountains or anything, just whine that too many men are on the mountain and not enough women, and order people to respect the slight incline you are standing on as just as good as any mountain. This behaviour is capable of existing because men are horny and willing to patronise female helplessness to show off how chivalrous and provider-y they are.
Laurie Penny, Mira Gonzalez, and whiny faggot feminism would vanish overnight if men's sex drives did. Women would have a few years of mass suicides and schizophrenia as the systemic complex of constant attention and interest in them disappeared, and then, slowly, from the ashes a few of the survivors would emerge, new women who want to write for the same reason that men want to write: to create things, to leave a mark on the world, to command real respect (not just attention), etc.
But it'll never happen, because penises. Women are incapable of understanding the massive complex of cock fever that undergirds every single aspect of their lives, so they will never fight it.
