I hate DFW but the nobel prize has always been a joke anyway, I think 30% of all the prizes have gone to sweden, in 1974 saul bellow, graham greene, and vladimir nabokov were denied prizes for a joint award between you guessed it, two nobel judges who wrote crap swedish poetry and had literally never been heard of outside of sweden.
