Why do people on here generalize Naked Lunch by calling it scat humor and edgelord-ness?

Naked lunch is the funniest goddamn book I've ever read and anyone who says that there isn't a structure to its madness hasn't read it. The first and last chapters are essential to framing everything else that occurs in between them

Burroughs is proto-trash. His work is innovative and interesting if for no reason other than its novelty.

However, I would have it scoured from the annals of history if it meant we never went down the french-as-fuck deconstructivist and pomo rabbit hole.

It's a great book but not everyone can handle it. The complete disregard for traditional moral and aesthetic values rubs some people the wrong way. I agree with you that it's incredibly well written and effective at what it does.

Every appearance of Dr. Benway had me holding back laughter.
