Pope, Swift, Fielding, Behn, etc. Is this an era of writing worth exploring at the expense of others? Or is it forever doomed to be a dull period between the Renaissance and Romanticism?

I'm asking because I enjoy reading books in historical groupings and this is an era I'm not enthused about.
