Here's the problem with season 1. There were too many cringey drama scenes.

It's the thing I hate the most in anime by far. These emo scenes just ruin the atmosphere. (MC is distressed because he failed to protect whoever etc)

Most of the time they're overly cliche and frankly shit, and that only ever happens in anime. I have no problem with drama scenes in live action stuff.

Season 2 is a lot more relaxed at the moment so who knows how it will turn out later.

We all have a moment like this. I remember this show back when I was a kid, Radio Free Roscoe. Four teens make a pirate radio station to vent their frustrations about their new high school after one of them gets kicked off the school radio station. The show paints them as heroes and the school radio as way too strict, but when you get older you realize that... it's a fucking school radio. Of course it's going to be heavily restricted, and our heroes are breaking multiple laws. The series becomes a little more gray at that moment, despite how things are portrayed.

ITT: We post our favorite mecha design of all time.

Bang Doll is tops for me. It takes the very best of Nagano's design traits without going overboard. The details feel balanced without going completely over the top. And surprisingly enough, it's a very chunky design unlike most other things he's done.

Honorary mention goes to Izubuchi's Sirbine.

With Zeta 3 and Zambot Gundam, you're left with the feeling that everything that everything they did was for noting, despite their recent accomplishments. Even though he was wrong, Scirocco Computer Doll #8's speech still makes me sad.

Depends on what they're willing to let him get away with.
What makes him such an effective villain is because despite how flamboyent and aloof he is, he's still VERY good at killing and terrorizing humanity, and gets away with killing a lot of people, some of which are close to the main cast. Not only that, they show what a rough time all the refugees are having, and how it makes it that much easier to round them up.

There would be no point in having him if you're not going to let him be effective. His actions have to not only get under the character's skin, but the viewer's as well. Other than that, he'd just be random kill mcedgy. Like 2 million people die on Gundam SEED Destiny, civilians, no less, and it's nothing more than a footnote in the series. Characters watching the events fold from afar sit down and talk a bout who they can blame rather than the destruction. Nobody in the series gives a shit, so I don't either.

Star Tattoos? Fucking terrifying.
