Space pirates are to be a reoccurring enemy that perhaps you can sway to join you in the finale. They are very gimmicky and would like to give theme and spread the influence to the mooks without being too silly. Essentially they cannibalize mecha to profit or improve their own. Also the legendary Bomb Shrapnel survives many conflicts unscathed.

This is actually a really fun idea.

Other than Lilah as Char or Sarah as Lalah. I would be great to see what everyone picks. Shiro maybe in Amuros pilot suit. There's a lot of other good picks too. Oz likely is in a silly 2 person costume like a horse...or kaiju. Captain a boob monster like Sumeragi.

Descartes would go as himself.

Where all the mecha enthusiasts at? Did we come up for a reason behind either the particle disruption or the viability of close proximity combat in space? How does this relate to fleet movement speed? Are the mecha the all end solution to this type of warfare?

I've always suggested going the electronic warfare route and having countermeasures so effective that getting up close and shooting dumb munitions is about all you can do. Mecha aren't the end all solution but a CVBG is still the biggest lion in the jungle with the greatest force projection.

Smaller ships can still duke it out and have some defense against weaker mecha but ultimately their goal is to act as screens for the carrier. Basically make it modern carrier ops in space.

I don't know if anybody else is into modern naval warfare like I am though and actually finds those sorts of things exciting.

I've been thinking about Lost Fleet's take on combat. It actually happens within milliseconds and super targeting systems are needed to hit anything since everything is moving relatively quick. But then again, they travel the galaxy and aren't restricted to just the SOL system. Maybe it's really hard to hit anything at cruising speed or the speed we need to make it to a planet within system in a reasonable amount of time.

Well, I know I said it before, but how here's I'm setting this up: Combat doesn't happen on the way to planets or stations, but at the beginning and end of a journey usually. Unless they pick something up on sensors and decide to diverge, but they would still need to slow down a lot so they don't overshoot their targets. Also, leyline disturbance will be another separator between Nereid pilots and the others.

Looks neat. My only excuse for not delivering upon my promises of drawing emblem concepts and such is laziness and lack of motivation. I did get around to redoing the one for the rebels under The Lion.

The main arc is Neptune and the big blank spot above that is where a unit number would go in, like IV inf. or II mec. to denote where exactly the person/unit belongs. I'm really channeling the war-criminal roots of the faction's concept with this one though because the slavrunes are a blatant reference to the Tigers, who were officially called the Cpпcкa дoбpoвoљaчкa гapдa.

You could do something like Elite Dangerous. In that, ships can use their made up sci fi super duper drive systems to either jump between systems through some kind of hyperspace analogue, or 'supercruise around one system at speeds approaching (or far exceeding) C. But while in supercruise ship's sensors still work, and it's possible to pick up other ships and, with the right gear, interdict them and pull them out of supercruise and force them to use their impulse engines, which operate in mere meters per second, forcing them into a dogfight.

So basically, standard giant robot fighting speed would use a separate drive from reasonable system cruising speed, but they can't fight in the latter and can potentially be pulled out of it and left exposed while the drives spool up.
