there's often enough some kind of appropriate equivalent, GN particles, ahab waves, the shit in SEED. AGE had those mars rays at least. Minovsky particles are hardly forgotten or missing from post 2k. They wouldn't be called the same thing in an AU anyway, not to mention all the UC since then has absolutely had them.

Interesting. Especially after rewatching the scene where Bellri gets mad at Barara for using a long distance weapon that sink a whole fleet.
Tomino really puts a lot of thought in these kind of details.

Kids don't like mecha, I don't think Tomino really gets what kind of anime they watch these days. This isn't just G-Reco, there's a reason why Gyrozetter flopped so hard. He should have switched robots to dragons or something if he wanted to reach that kind of audience.

Nobody likes big robots anymore.

Gundam still survives only because of brand name and legions of older fans.

The best selling mecha anime in the recent years had tanks and not robots.

Figure this is a good enough of place to say.

Just finished watching MSG, and it was much better than I expected. It's not as brutal as Ideon but it was held together much better.

Even with its shortcomings, it really is a classic. Sleggar was my favortie character; is there more of him in the movies?
