On topic, not even many people on /m/ or /a/ thinks that Gurren Lagann is bad. It's a top 10 mecha show from pretty much anyone's point of view but there was a time when the "best show ever" posting reached critical mass and we had to set these newfags straight.

Armageddon wasn't really a great anime. The first three episodes, maybe, and the OST definitely but knowing Imagawa it'd just be Majuu Sensen renamed with Getter Robo characters.

I don't really care about how objectively good it was. It's full of everything that makes me happy. Hell, I'm not pretending anything I listed is high art (with the exception of a few of them in regards to visuals), but they all moved me or got me to crack a smile or impressed me in some other way, and that's how they're in my top 10. I probably should have put Dai-Guard instead of Zambot, though. It stands out to me more, come to think of it

LED TOO being the key phrase in that sentence. They started using it right but then got greedy, That's the problem and what Simon should have done is realized how to use it properly.

He owes the AS no such promise and refusing to use technology because of what MIGHT happen is cowardly

he spent the whole series going ROW ROW FIGHT DA POWER DO THE IMPOSSIBLE and when it came time to do the impossible and use the energy right? He choked and became a hobo pussy. It was a complete 180 to his established personality and theme of the show

There's a world of difference between beating up bigger and bigger assholes and curing cancer dude. There's not even any reason to believe Simon COULD do that. At no point in the series is necromancy established to be one of Simon's powers. It's not even conceptually possible. Every one of Simon's/Gurren Lagann's powers follow an internally consistent logic based on drills or combining (with drills). Swimming? Drilling through the water. Teleportation? Drilling through spacetime. He even beat the Anti-Spiral because Gurren Lagann's drill was indestructible. Please explain to me how you wouls unkill someone with drills.
Oh wait, you can't, because Getter Robo already explained that Spiral Energy can only be used for destruction.
