Next is Char. It's quite obvious from CCA that Char is not a good person. On the surface he is intelligent, charismatic, witty, cunning,
attractive, and a highly skilled pilot. However in CCA his mask is finally taken off. Throughout the film he is the leader of Neo Zeon, (something he supposedly hated), trying to expel Earthnoids from Earth through violent means (which he tried to avoid in Zeta), is lamenting the loss of Lalah once again (which he said he had gotten over in Zeta), and once again has a raging hateboner for Amuro (again, something he said he was over in Zeta). However, simply trying to destroy life on Earth wasn't evil enough for Tomino, since nobody can realistically relate to that. So he put Quess in the movie, a young girl that Char manipulated and then discarded, an obivously selfish and evil act.
It is the final conversation in CCA that finally shows Char for what he is. He is the product of a lifetime of hatred. He is petty, resentful, jealous, and holds grudges far longer than what is healthy. Think Jerid times 100. CCA was basically Char throwing a tantrum. He lost Lalah to Amuro, and the elite Earthnoids were still exploiting the Earth and the Spacenoids, so he tried to kill two birds with one stone and kill Amuro while destroying the Earth in an act of genocide only match by Zeon, the very same group he hated.
Fast forward to Unicorn, and how is Char remembered? The guy who tried to destroy everything? Whose own men defected in the final hour to stop him, symbolically showing the end of the Zeon/Federation conflict? Whose actions were opposed by literally everyone in the Axis Shock? According to Mineva, the perfect Mary Sue peace princess, he dindu nuffin and was a pretty swell guy because he was passionate in achieving Zeon's ideals, which is obviously way better than that faggot Full Frontal who wanted to use economics to achieve Zeon's ideals.
