Okay, /m/. I've seen talk about western mecha shows. I've seen talk about Japanese shows that just happen to have robots in them.

What about western shows with robots in them?

In particular, I've always known my father was a Star Trek fan, but only recently realized he and my mother gave me the same initials as James Tiberius Kirk, so now I feel like I need to give the series a bigger shot.

All I've seen are a few of the older movies, the first film in the reboot, and like two episodes each of TOS and TNG.

Is the whole of TOS worth watching? What about other series? Are any of the books good? Video games?

Honestly I think trying to fit the films in while doing full series runs would make the movies seem pretty awkward. At the very least Generations should be slotted in before DS9 Season 3 and FC before Season 5. Events from both movies are explicitly referred to in the show, after all.

I think rough production order is pretty simple. It's a simple matter of alternating episodes starting with TNG - Chain of Command.

Watch some episodes, it's all plain fun. TOS is pretty episodic and precious few episodes get brought up later, except as references in the movies and onward. The most important of these is Space Seed, because it's important to Wrath of Khan. And you should watch WoK sometime. Also The Naked Time occurs again in TNG's Naked Now, and NN is one of the more important Season 1 eps for Data's sexual romp.

Why would you act as if the Federation or Colony Corporation ever thought colonies would be dropped? This was an unheard of idea at the time. People make molotov cocktails out of gas and bottles, but you don't stop making them because of that.

A bunch of manga that was there at the English ComicWalker's launch also has that status, and looking at the English calendar, they seem to have dialed back their efforts as there are only scheduled updates for 2 manga in the next month, one being the full-color Gundam The Origin, and they've translated the Cross Ange manga before, but they're not even doing the IBO manga to coincide with them really trying to make an effort to get that show out in the west.

As far as the "multiple episodes in one" episodes go, some of the gags/skits were better seperately in this episode (196), like the "invade the world with kotatsus" plan, discussing a plan involving words that people often confuse with each other, and the Live-action Keroro adaptation (pic related), but the first one (ep 74) was better as a whole imo, and the "family picture" ending was more warm, heartfelt, and most of all, unique, than yet another bathhouse thing and another misunderstanding involving the Japanese pronunciations of both "bathhouse" and "battle".

Only thing we can hope for is that a new anime comes sooner than later so we can get merch like that again. I'd kill for a new modern figure series of the girls in general and things like Nendos, too, and I'm not even a fig person.

Well, Setsuna was funny with his Gundam maymay and stuff like showing in the window of Marida's bedroom to ask her about existence of the God.
He had parody elements of silent emo protagonist. Heero was of same type, but was played completely straight.

She's a remarkably refreshing breather after Lacus, showing a character who is ultimately helpless and has no power to get out from under her situation. She's not going to hop in an MS and become a badass pilot taking down Aheads in some shitty Enact, and she doesn't have the resources to pull an overpowered Gundam out of her ass. There are people who just get fucked over. She does what she can, which is keep one of the kids she's with from becoming the next Setsuna or the next Neil. That isn't glamorous, or brave, but it's important to ending the cycle of violence that consumed the lives of everyone in CB.

Setsuna is good because his weirdness is humorous and not 100% maximum edge. His weirdness is acknowledged as strange in show by everyone including his own comrades and his relationship with piss princess is handled with far more nuance.
