People love to talk about Max who is so broken in-universe that you have to actively nerf him in a vs thread, and Basara who is a god of dodging. But what about Isamu?

The guy made it through Earth's automated defense network by himself, taking a lot of it down with him. Not to mention he soundly beat Guld who was in the YF-21, which overal was a more advanced machine. Plus he got through the Macross's defenses when it tried to keep him away.

NUNS already has a better specced machine in sufficient production numbers for it's special forces to use thanks to the VF-22 Sturmvogel and were ready to adopt the VF-25 as their new normal unit. Frontier's SMS forces were doing it's final testing (since it had been developed on the Frontier), which was why they had it early. Earth already had better special forces units than the VF-19 though and more of the 19 along with plans in place to adopt new mainline units as well as presumably having increased the planetary defenses enough that there's no reason they should be paranoid about their own forces getting the 19.

If your planetary defenses can be penetrated by one fighter, no matter how good it is (or it's pilot), you're first line of reasoning shouldn't be "never allow anyone else to have this fighter, it's just too good", it should be "beef that shit up, because there's no way one fighter should have got through all of it, holy fuck how were our guns so shitty?".

I was playing DW Gundam Reborn and all the Acguys do that stupid anime run where they keep their arms rigid behind them instead of naturally swinging them. They also get up like midget babies when they are knocked down.

You know it's funny, everyone gives Wing shit for Leos exploding by the dozen, but am I right that I remember a lot of the later Grunts to actually be threats? I seem to remember the Taurus and Virgo causing a lot of trouble when they first came onto the scene.

The Taurus was generally pretty effective, with the mobile doll version being more so. Virgos tore through everything that wasn't an upgraded gundam and the planet defensors made them basically immune to conventional beam weapons (though not lasers).

Well one of them is its not a clipshow like the other two. Its a completely different version of the series everyone has different roles to play in it. It was a fun watch just a bit odd at start till you adjust to the characters new roles

The problem with Mars Daybreak (or pro point, but seems like that there are other anons here don't share my view and I can see why) is that it's just a bunch of guys on an adventure. There's only one overarching plotline that in the end is more akin to a scam scheme than a world-threatening threat; it's a lot like Zoids Zero except you take out the tournament for a world tour following a Robin Hood-esque freebooter submarine.

Greatest flaw was they also forgot to make the show stand on its own so we end up with examples like "Naval Witches who are they?", especially since it's repeatedly hinted that there's this (or there WAS this) group of people who might as well be sea elves, possess naval technology that might well be comparable to having a technologically-superior civilization to the Martians living on floating cities. However, the only two leads in the show are never expanded upon. Shows typically get manga tie-ins to boost the settings (and sales) but I suppose Mars Daybreak had the game as its origin; but the issue is that the game remains untranslated and largely unknown, so the show is the more well-known of the two as an example of an adventure that goes nowhere if inter-character relations aren't your thing.

They created Mars with a pretty solid social web and background legends on the founding of Mars, but a lot of it is left to the wayside and only ever brought up in one or two lines in the show. I liked the show and how almost every crewmember got their time in the spotlight (no, the propoise in an armored armed suit is part of the support cast, not a "main" character) but, at the end of the day, there's no higher cause or higher purpose. Just one guy and the people he met going about and around the seas, and depending on personal preference that's a pretty easy way to make a hit-or-miss show.

The fights between the Round Bucklers are easily the weakest part of the show. Simply having a differentiation between remote-operated and piloted RBs are not enough to carry the show beyond the first episode Physics of projectile weaponry underwater aside, majority of scenes are recycled and if you can't appreciate the Round Buckler design the show has literally nothing left to give you if you already didn't like it for what it was.

Likewise the little we see of the Mars administration's non-navy forces (read: space force) is only relevant for an episode, much like most of the plotlines the show has. In contrast there are Naval Witches-built Round Bucklers and like every other setting-related item in the show they never expand on what it is or what it can do. Probably in the PS2 game itself, but that's as good as anyone's guess.

I found it a comfy watch. Not a good time to pick it up when you're bored as hell or if pirate slice-of-life is not up your alley, though. Very little pillaging goes on in it and it plays a lot on slapstick comedy which is again another no-exceptions, either-a-hit-or-miss aspect.

The main differences is that I don't think we'd have gotten the mid season battle or the Messiah cards.

The power up also would allow them to fight in subspace, something that they were building up to but suddenly dropped and completely forgot afterwards.

Enter also might not have been the final villain, which would definitely make the show worse. He has a pretty notable attitude change after Messiah's death, becoming generally more serious, even though that change is never acknowledged by the characters, so it seems to be just them suddenly building him up to be the final boss.
