>The December issue of Akita Shoten's Champion RED magazine announced on Monday that it will publish the final chapter of Yūki Yogo and Yoshiaki Tabata's Shin Mazinger Zero vs. Ankoku Daishōgun manga in the January 2016 issue on November 19.

Shin Mazinger Zero is finally ending, and we don't even have it scanned passed Volume 4. Is there any hope for seeing it scanned or translated? I really hope we'll be able to read it at some point, from what I saw it looks batshit insane, and the art looks really cool too. Also, it gave Sayaka some huge tits, which looks really nice.

That specific manga is ending. Shin Mazinger Zero might continue into Shin Mazinger Zero The Great Chapter, or Shin Mazinger Zero Z, or Shin Mazinger Zero Kaiser, or something. (Hopefully not though)

No, it's over for good. Like >>13376424 said, the ending of ZERO was paired with the announcement for Vs. Ankoku Daishogun. I mean, it's possible that they want to move into Grendizer's storyline but it seems highly unlikely at this point. The series never stopped being about Mazinger Z, Great and Grendizer were secondary in Vs. Ankoku Daishogun.

Would you want an anime adaption of ZERO/Ankoku Daishogun? Or is Shin good enough as a reboot to last us a while? Great-hen never so you can't say you'd rather that.

I wouldn't mind seeing an anime adaption, but ZERO looks really stylized so it'd have to be done carefully so it wouldn't look like ass.

Yes. As much as I love Imagawa's Shin Mazinger, Zero is way better IMO.

As someone who read all of Zero and some of the sequel Ankoku Daishogun, I don't care about canon but in the end I don't think you can actually compare Shin Mazinger's story and Zero's story, as Shin Mazinger is actually just a time loop of Zero.

And I simply like Zero because it's basically the sequel to Shin, with Great Mazinger and everything actually happening.

I enjoy ZERO, but you must be literally blind if you can't see the level of writing between them.

ZERO is purely fanservice (I don't mean nudity fanservice, although it has that as well).

The modern art works, but as a story, I don't find it suitable for adaptation at all unless some drastic changes are made.

The story is not standalone, and will most likely be confusing and look like a mess to someone who doesn't even know what Mazinger is.

Heck, it looks like a mess to me even right now, as a Mazin fan.

That universe only has Mazinger Z and nothing else. Mazinger Z(ero) was a god-like figure the people.
Kouji is using his "imagination" to pull what he knew from other universes (Great Mazinger and Grendizer), to show it to the others. His act gave people out there the opportunity to create new heroes and characters. With the imagination from the others Kouji uses the photon energy to make them real.
Because Mazinger Z(ero) has no knowledge other than itself it cannot defeat the others like Getter, Grendizer, Jeeg, Zambot 3, Gundam, etc..

That's the point.
Mazinger Z(ero) gets all the information about itself from all universe through the eyes of Minerva X.
No matter how hard Kouji does there is no way to defeat Zero because Kouji is simply a "part" of it.
Great Mazinger was created based on Mazinger Z's data so it is part of Zero as well.
So in order to defeat Zero something new and unknown is required.
Kouji didn't ask for Duke Fleet's help when he met him a couple of issues ago may also due to the same reason, to hide it from Zero.

They tied it in with SKL pretty heavily in BX, and you even actually get to fight Ankoku Daishogun. I think most of Shin Mazinger's problem in the 5 or 6 games it's been in so far is that 4 of them were Z2/Z3 and they finished it's plot (played almost completely straight) after just two games, so it feels like it's just been there without much to do with anything.

Whats Dynamic Pro even doing? I know they're working on a million different things right now, but a few months ago they were pumping chapters out really quickly, but they finished volume 4 of ZERO and just stopped. Not to mention theres all of vs. Ankoku Daishogun that hasn't even seen the light of day. You'd think if they were in the middle of a series they'd finish it up.

I've been scanning as usual. It sucks, but I'm the guy that scans, QCs, cleans, redraws and typesets for all of our stuff sans Majuu Sensen. I also scan books for other groups too. It's incredibly time consuming, especially since I also have to study and work. SMZ will start up soon enough again, don't fret. Also, donations are really, really, really welcome because then I don't have to fix PCs as much to not get evicted.

Just to back this up a little bit.
For point 1 Zero seemed be upset by Kouji's time traveling in the last universe.
For point 2 Minerva X think if Grendizer vs Zero fight happened a few issues back it would be a 50/50 fight.
For point 3 Zero can't do shit to Getter and gang like it did to Z and Great.

I'm usually not keen on scanlating magazine stuff since volumes look better and tend to have altered material, but honestly taking on a weekly/monthly series is easier than a series that's already out since you're forced to only release every now and then. Of course, finding a willing translator is another thing.

Never. I love interacting with readers, getting their takes on things and letting them know what's going on behind the scenes. Any and all questions are welcome, I have nothing but gratitude for the love you guys show for these comics and the support you've shown me for years. It's a privilege to be able to work on this stuff because I love it, too. I only wish I could tell my mundane life stuff to fuck off forever so I could focus only on Dynamic Pro manga (I have literally tried to contact Go Nagai/Dynamic Productions to try and set something up officially but that never goes well, and yes I am a professional letterer, but work is scare sometimes)
